[Curare]

Hey all,

I'm just going through the design process for a super long panorama tank.

It's not high, or deep but long for it's size, as it stand the dims are 60" x 12" x 14". It'll be open top and I want it on a steel stand so it can fit over a chest of drawers that I want under it.

The problem is that I need the stand to be as unobtrusive as possible.

I was thinking 1" square rhs for the stand, will this be adequate?

Not for sure, but I think 1" might be a bit to little, at least on verticle measurment. Maybe 1"x2" box section 1/8" wall? Or perhaps C channel. I debated building a steel frame for my 240G stand but settled on 4x4 lumber instead, since the furthest run I need without any support would be 4' and I'll center that in the middle so I'll have a 4x4 support at 0, 2, 6, 8 feet, and that should be plenty (8 4x4's total). At least I hope thats enough for a 240... I'll probably make another post to get some more opinions closer to construction date.

true, that's a 240..


This would be 50 gallons, maybe 1" is too small, maybe 1 1/2" RHS.
