So I got the bug to start a new tank! I’ve got a 50 gallon community planted tank and a 10 gallon guppy tank. I am bored of the guppy tank and was thinking about converting their tank to a paludarium with a few vampire crabs. I’m trying to figure out if this is possible to do while keeping them alive... their colorful gravel would be changed to sand... the hang on the back filter would be replaced by a eheim Ecco filter... the water would be lowered to half... lots of drift wood and rocks would be added... and more plants would be added. Would I be better off trying keep them temporarily housing in a 5 gallon bucket?

10 gal would work for a small group of vampire crabs. I would pull the guppies out during remodel and house in a bucket with their filter. Removing the substrate will stir up a bunch of fines which aren't good for the fish.
