How's your circulation and how long do you keep your lights on?

When I first started my tank, I had a big staghorn outbreak that I solved by reducing photoperiod to 9 hours and adding a small powerhead for increased circulation.
I have one filstar xp1, and lights are usually on 14 hours. is that the problem?
I would start by cutting the lighting to at most 10 hours. Good luck!
If there is alot of fish pop and dead plants on the substraight cleaning it up a bit hellped me. Hydrogen peroxide and excell took care of the staghorn hair and thread algae. I also had the nitrates too high and the PO4 and FE too low.

turbowagons right
you can put hydrogen peroxide in the water???? or is it sorta like a bleach dip?

Definitely! No reason to have more than 9 in my opinion. Many people do 8 hrs. Are you building up some CO2 b/f the lights come on? I've heard that can help a lot. You can set the time to let the CO2 start up an hour or two b/f the lights turn on. I'm scared to do 2 hrs w/o being home to watch it, so mine currently turns on 1 hr b/f the lights.
thanks, i did a two day blackout and now lights are on for 9 hours. Ill see what happens.
