So i was at a lfs today with the wife and she saw a sponge bob square pants that hooks to an air line and blows bubbles. She was like we need this. Then she founds one of thoe thoes treasure chest that opens and closes with air bubbles. I explaned to her i wasnt going to have that in my tank. She couldnt understand why we would have tank with having decoration. Have any of you had the same issue with ue wife or husband?

Everytime we go to the LFS I have the same problem with my girls. Ages 7 and 4.
Solution... build a sponge bob planted tank for there room B^)
Yea i was at the lfs yesterday. With my 3 year old. And she told me we had to have a spoungebob and his house. I explaned to her that was silly cus spongebob lives in the sea and our tank was freshwater. She then inforemed me i was silly.

My wife is plotting to put somethng in my tank. She says its something my oldest will love. So that means dora, or disney priness. Ether way. I plan to tie some moss to it. Problem solved

My sister pulled the same thing on me a few times at petsmart. I explained to her about gas exchange in the water with injected co2, she had a blank stare, said ok and then never asked me again. LOL
Give her a tank ASAP. Let her do as she wishes with it and when the thing is covered in algae refer her to this forum. We will take it from there.
Lol!

Now, seriously, this is your hobby. She wants to have it her way then that is an excuse for having another tank. When they loose interest you can set up an iwagumi or a shrimp tank or another planted tank. ;)
Oh, and I wanted to add:

Make your aquarium boring for kids, don't put any temptations in there for them to mess with it.
I'm very happy that all kids ignore my tanks but adults act like they were kids when they can't stop staring at them.
:)
The wife and kids need their own tank. They can choose any "decorations" and fish they want. Your tank then stays your tank and can be setup how you choose.

You really have this figured out... :icon_neut ......
I used to have bright pink gravel because of the girlfriend. And I let her get like 10 guppies. Now I have 50 that I can't give away because "they're soooo cute"
Worse part is saying no to your kids.
Having a tank is great but seeing your kids happy is everything even if it make your tank ugly.
Almost as bad as calling a Nemo fish a clownfish.
Somehow, when I was a little squirt, I managed to never want those kinda things lol

Good luck with the balance between what you want and what your wife/kids want though.
