Alright, so I've just dropped about 750 on a four bulb light fixture from CatalinaAquariums and the CO2 Ultimate pack from Green Leaf Aquariums.

At the moment... I've got 6 corys, and 3 guppies (I'm going to sell my angelfish and red barbs tomorrow, I'll miss the angels, but they're just a bit too evil for my taste).

As for plants, I've got a list as to what I want to buy, but the current tank tenants are three sets of dwarf hairgrass, a six year old plant that I'll probably never know what it is (my guess it's an amazon sword of sorts), an amazon sword, and... Well I'm going to have to look at the name again.

Anyway, the merchandise has yet to reach me, and I'm doing a TON of reading so that I don't blow myself up when I get the CO2 system set up, but I'm still curious. Is there anything I should be doing in the mean time? I mean, I don't want to get all this gear and be that "cool kid" in martial arts with all the expensive stuff and yet completely sucks. I want this tank to turn into a tropical oasis... an underwater oasis. So my question: Should I be doing anything to prepare my tank for the upcoming overhaul?

The lights should be easy, it's with the CO2 that I'm concerned about. I don't want to shock the aquarium or the PH. Which reminds me, I should probably buy a master test kit. Anyway, tips, tricks, DO NOT DOs, or anything will be appreciated. Thank you.

Yeah I've been browsing through there. Just looking to pick up a few things. And it's a 75 gal. The hood cost 250, but he gave me a bit of a deal on my set-up. I just couldn't say no.

The CO2, well, it's going to last a life time. That and I didn't want to go through all the trouble of finding everything used. But at the end of the day, the price was reasonable considering everything that came with it.

Did you already find a good co2 refill or exchange place? For the tank.

I did, there is a paintball shop that about 13 minutes away from me, I literally could walk. But they haven't returned my call or e-mails. My fail safe is a fire extinguisher company 20-30 minutes away from me. They never heard of planted tanks, so maybe I can pass the bug to them. >=D

Welding shops are good to... We have NexAir where I live. 5 lbs for 12 bucks.

Read Frank's threads on bringing back algae filled tanks and maintaining a new set up. The way he pays attention and responds to what is happening in the tank is extremely useful information. Here is one of them.

DarkBlade's primer on CO2 is terrific but I am sure you have already found it.

Get a set of dry fertilizing powders and read up on how tos. The discussions will drive you nuts but better now than when some green monster has attacked your tank and you want how to do what yesterday.

Got your new scape all figured out? If you are interested in getting something more structured done now I really got a lot from this thread. My tank is never going to look anything like the illustrations but I think some stuff is sinking in as each new scape is pleasing me more than the last.

Take lots of photos for before and afters whether you are brave enough to post them here or not and start a journal of some sort - there is a handy one right on this forum - and most of all take it easy and have fun.
