I just bought a piece of driftwood I was planning to use in my 75 blackwater tank. Turns out it has black line spalting. Being that this is caused by a fungus I'm concerned about using it. Will it be OK to use or should I find another?

If you are concerned, boil it for several hours. That will kill any pathogens it has, plus it will cause it to waterlog and sink faster (if it isn't already a sinker).

Two points to consider may help. One is that items that grow in the dry, rarely live in the water!
Second is that the spores which come from fungus are often all around us and blowing in the air, so I do not worry the issue much as algae and fungus are a constant in most of our lives.
