What is wrong with my Zebra Danio? He appears weak and has a blotch of discoloration on the back? What is there to be done?

looks like septicemia. you won't be able to save him because it kills too fast. i would however, get some meds to treat the tank to make sure it doesn't spread.

I would remove the fish. and euthanize it so to not infect any tank mates. and head to the petstore with 2 bucks and get a replacement.
Sadly, I have remove the fish from the tank and put it down. Hopefully it does not spread to other fish.

My tank is a planted tank and what kind of medication can be recommanded?

There are different kinds of septicemia. Some caused by bacteria, some by viruses. Only the bacterial kind can be treated, but I don't know with what.

I saw another Zebra with similar color discoloration in one side of the body. (As above picture) However, it appears to be eating and fast swimming. I couldn't get it out from the 500GL.

Should I drain the tank and take it out by force?
