I've been keeping to myself of late so i just wanted to say hi, show a few things I've been up to and offer what I can spare.

My dog remains cute.

I got into a fight with my Xbox 360,

and won.

I briefly took my gf's band's new album hostage, and tortured it.

I picked up a couple of really neat terrariums that I have no idea what to do with.

Obviously plants, moss, but what sort and what arrangement??? Suggestions are welcome.

I have a 55 tank in front of a South facing window. Sun and room lights are the only light it gets. Yes there is algae, though I don't think of it as a problem. It is terrible trying to take pictures of though, so forgive the blurriness. My gf, who is a photographer sometimes, has a super fancy camera that I don't touch and besides she doesn't have a macro lens and they're like $700 dollars, so these are all from my ipad. I may get one of those little rubber band macro lenses for it.

Bluefin killies get along well with pygmy cories.

I wish I could get a decent pick of my Pseudomugil gertrudae, I think they're just awesome.

Here's the home of that frog I won at auction, despite all of my fish and tanks he's my favorite thing in a tank now.

No pics of him, he's hiding in his coconut at the moment.

This is one of my shrimp tanks.

I've so far had great success with them, so I think that the previous tank I tried them in had something that didn't agree with them. I'd say copper, but that's where the assassin snails breed like crazy, so probably not copper.

I've always got albino bristlenose babies and assassin snails if anyone wants.

That frog tank is amazing. Definitely inspiring me to do something similar in the future.

Regarding the 55, do you have ferns and mosses in there, or anything more demanding? I'm trying to do something similar on a much, much smaller scale.

The 55 is mostly java moss and fern, a giant radican sword growing out of the tank, some val, some watersprite and some cabomba plus a little of whatever floaters or trimmings I've tossed in.

That grid on the left was entirely covered in java moss but I messed it up while pulling some and haven't gotten around to reapplying it.

I feel that I can minimize the algae further if I just strike the right balance. I don't mess around with CO2 injection, and excel would melt the vals and watersprite, but I've been dosing small amounts of flourish to see if that might help. I haven't cleaned the glass in a week or so and you can still see out the back of the tank so you can see the algae isn't so bad.

Thanks! You're welcome to visit and take away some cuttings and extras. I have a pond and several tubs in the back so I always have something growing. All of the floaters, water hyacinth sometimes, water cress, watersprite, I've put those swords out and they do alright after a longish acclimation but I don't take them back in anymore as they tend to get aphidy.

As for the terrariums.... I warn you it's a slippery slope, you'll be collecting succulents before you know it. My friend does them professionally (shameless plug), you might get some inspiration from her work, or just visit and chat her up for ideas cos she's super.

You would not believe the noises she makes while trimming. It is painful to hear, emotionally and physically. I gave it up as a lost cause long ago. If you ever wanna give it a go you're very welcome.

I'm onto my second one now, but I can't really complain, the 1st was a gift that held up well for a few years and the 2nd was only $60.

Found them on Craigslist, some fellow upstate was selling them and while I was up there I gathered some moss and looked for salamanders.

She is a Shiba, they're pretty trendy lately. Kinda like cat/dogs.
