It seems to me that many members here have a lot of interest in lighted backgrounds. But few actually know how they're done! Well let me show you a quick 10 minute, budget project (~20 dollars depending on the size of your tank) that will make your tank look photo ready!

The secret is a photographic trick called retrolighting which is basically fancy talk for background lighting:



The build was easy I just gutted an old light fixture for just the ballast and end caps then inserted it into the board. You can easily streamline the design so you don't get glaring light in your face (another project I'm planning) and overall it's very effective.

photography was done with a point and shoot picture. The quality could be better but I'm in a hurry.
