Got it from a creek near to where I live. It has been in my tank for a few months now.

Can anyone please help me ID this plant?
Looks like some sort of Giant Hygro maybe

I'm not helping? :icon_wink

Was there any on shore, or did you find it submersed? I think an ID right now isn't possible. What you'll need to do is keep it going until next summer, put some outside and try to flower it. Might even need to make a specimen of it if you succeed. Anything before then is just guessing.

hahaha :) you cracked me up. Sorry about the comment coz I was looking for someone to give me a latin name. Spring/Summer is a few months to go. I will patiently wait, either for someone to give me a suggested name or do what you told me to do.

When I got it, it was in its emmerse form. Now, its in its sumbersed form. I don't think I can find it anymore since that was at a construction site and they pretty much rechanneled the creek and bury the existing one. Maybe I may be lucky enough to find some more of this and take some pics next spring.

Cuchulainn, it does not look like the Giant Hygro in the link(both in its submerse and emmerse form). Although I may do some further research and find if its in the same family. Thanks a lot for pointing me to something.
I like it whatever it is. :)
Yeah, it looks nice, but for some reason, when I first got it, it melted on me like crazy. I think I got like a sandwich bagfull of it, and only two survived. One thing I noticed about this plant is that it needs good light to grow and not melt from the bottom up. When any part of it is shaded, its leaves melts.
You might have found the new smash hit of the planted tank world :)

I doubt it. Somebody out there must know what it is.
The chances of someone knowing exactly what it is are quite small. If it were something distinctive or something that's been grown before, then maybe. But it's just really hard to just look at sterile (as in submersed) growth of an unknown wild plant and say with any authority that you know what it is; it just doesn't work that way. What you usually need is a flowering specimen, a good floral key and perhaps a specialist.
