I know snails can carry ich.
You do? Ich is a fish disease. Snails are not carriers, and cannot be infected and host the disease. However, if you take a snail from an ich infected tank, you could very well end up transporting a few free floating theronts in the process, but this is also true if you transport just about anything between tanks, including a small rock. If you are concerned about this, just isolate the snail in a tank for a few days. Length of time depends on water temp. I've read as few as 3 days at 75 degrees, and as many as 7 days for 77 degrees. So I'd say for a typical tropical tank, 7 days should suffice. If you are wiling to raise the temp into the mid 80's, you shouldn't need more than 3 days.
