do i need to add light to a little 5G tank as long as it gets indirect sun light, its going to be little walstad setup with very low light plants, java fern, anubis, and a bit of dwarf hair grass
Dwarf hairgrass probably wont work. But the rest would be good depending on how indirect the sunlight is. But you may want to add some lighting. Just in case its cloudy for like a week straight haha. But I am no expert on completley natural tanks.
Small tanks are pretty easy to light. I grow crypts and a few other plants in 2 gallon jars with just the light from a north window. The fact that there is very little water makes the light much stronger. The spiral daylight bulbs are great at lighting small tanks. They are cheap and you can use clip lights which are also cheap. Or you can just put one in a desk lamp.
