I picked up four Amano's for one of my cubes this past Friday. Sadly I've lost one (due to it bailing from the tank) and the others seem fine. I noticed while watching the tank today, two of the three left become spastic when they swim. They will coast end to end of the tank and once they hit the glass they snap their tails and almost jump out of the tank. If they do a 180 in their travels they crash into plants or substrates and don't go back to normal till they grasp onto something to climb. Is this signs of anything?

Mine did what you've described a lot when I first set up one of my tanks. Even had a few jumpers within the first few weeks as well :-(. After about a month they became less skittish and would be busy cleaning all day. I think "new tank syndrome" and lack of algae/food made mine stressed. Was your tank recently set up? Might also be since their new their adjusting to you parameters such as pH. Do you know what pH they were in and what your is?

Tank is 17 days old and was cycled with the internal filter I currently have in it from another tank which it ran for 2 months.

Might also be since their new their adjusting to you parameters such as pH. Do you know what pH they were in and what your is?

The store I got the Amano's from had them in I was not 100% sure, but I bag tested (which I know will be different than tank params) to come out to 7.0. My tank fluctuates due to injected CO2, but I had drip acclimated (post temp acclimating) them for an hour prior to adding them. My peak pH, while CO2 is running, is 6.5. The highest it gets overnight with CO2 off and 10 hours of surface agitation is 6.8.

Also, might be worth knowing, my kh is 14.
