Hello.

Would the Silver tip tetra considered a fin nipper and/or relatively aggressive fish similar to the buenos Aires Tetra, Black skirt Tetra, Red eye Tetra,etc... or more of a playful fish in which no other fish gets hurt?

I have small fragile fish such as guppies, red cherry barbs, neon tetra, etc. and I have had them killed by Buenos Aires Tetra and to a lessor extend black skirt tetra.

I would like to know if the Silver tip is also in that category.

Thanks.

To put it in a nutshell,

Most schooling fish, especially tetras, will disperse their aggression out when kept in schools large enough to interact naturally with each other. Any time I hear of someone with a 'nippy' problem fish, nine times out of ten the fish in question is found in schools in the wild, and was being kept in the owner's tank in a species group smaller than 4~6 individuals. Silver Tips being about the same size as Neons shouldn't be any more aggressive than the Blackskirts or Buenos Aires tetra, both which do better in a school of 6 or more.

Key word: more..
