So I got new guppies (8) a week ago today. I lost one after about 2 days. All of sudden she was way to calm and was not swimming around. Now I have another that is doing the same. It looks like her mouth is opening and closing rapidly. My water parameters are great. Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 10, pH 7.4. I am not sure what I should do. Note: I have 6 other guppies that all are swimming around having fun acting normal and about 25 babies that all look good too. I have 2 males and 5 females. I am not sure if I am just being a paranoid new fish owner or if I should do something.

How big is your tank, what is the temperature, do you have a filter and air pump?

If you suspect they are sick and contagious, you should remove them

The tank is 20 gallons I have a filter, air stone, heater set to 80 F. If she does not perk up by this afternoon I will remove her.

Hmm... maybe it's just stress or shock from acclimating.

Did you just dump the guppies in?
