This is the best picture I could get. He's normally a very saucy and curious guy but he's been acting lethargic and not showing much interest in food. Also there's the white spot. Ick?

Looks more like velvet (fungus).
I just started treating a betta for a patch too, luckily she still eats, and had a nice fat maggot for dinner.
I'm using TetraMedica fungistop which is silver based. You need to set up your hospital tank with aged water, as dechlorinators have chelating agents that binds heavy metals.
She seems to be getting the first signs of dropsy too.

I think you can get the Kordon Itch medication over there that is not available here, someone will pitch in shortly to tell you which one. One is more gentle....

Yeah I thought it was weird cause when I was looking at pictures of velvet it didn't really seem to match but same with ick... is there any reason I can't treat in situ?

Not sure about kordon, but the tetra medicine can be used in the tank, it is plant safe.
I left a pond snail I the tank. Will report if it keels over.
