Shrmp and tank dividers?

1325 Views 13 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  A Hill
Will that work? I have tank dividers for my different stains of endlers and some that I am trying to start. I have some left over and another 20 gal long laying around. So I'm thinking of using tank dividers for different shrimp types. Like yellow and snowball shrimp.

Do u think the holes are too big too keep out baby shrimp?

Baby shrimp are fairly small, it is possible for them to get threw. Hard to say 100%.
Even if they get through you will just have to keep a good on it and get them out before they get to the age of breeding.
dang that seems like alot of work. maybe i'll try it anyway
They will slip through. (At least they do in my tank.)
Mesh and stuff won't work.

Now if you do glass it will. No holes or anything though...

Another member here did that and it came out really nice, custom made tank though...

its hard to just try and remove them before they get to breeding age as sometimes the male yellow shrimp look similar to snowballs.
looks good. Too bad I never thought of that before.

Well I have an idea but its kinda gettho. I think im gonna saran wrap the dividers. hahahah

I think it would be a mess, that was an idea to keep the moisture down in my room, it worked for about half a second lol...

Look into plexiglass?

i would get some plexi glass and silicone it as tank dividers or create an entire custom acryllic shrimp tank with custom partitions.

hell, that's a great idea. i think i might look into doing one myself.. hahaha.

Its not cheap:icon_roll I got a quote on a similar system, and it was around $200-300 :icon_roll seems like my quote was higher than other places do it for though. You're better off buying a rack for tanks:)

well i would build the tank myself with acrylic. it wouldn't be a large tank, so the stuff at the depot should be enough I think. a decent sized sheet is only $6 .. all together, i'd estimate about $20 for materials. whether it works as a tank or not is a different story of course. but for $20, I think I might try it :)

Well thats the case with all DIY projects..

For $20 I'd give it a shot.
