shrimpy disaster

oh woe is me....

I ordered 20 cherry shrimp put in my little shrimp tank (20 long)
the store getting them for me (the owner is a good friend of mine) had directions to "do not open the shrimp bag"....

the owners newest employee took it upon herself to disregard the instructions.... and open the bags, change the water in the bags (thats a 100% waterchange in seconds), and put bag buddies in them.... frikken CLOVE OIL in with shrimps. well once the owner noticed he immediatly evacuated the shrimps from the bag but the damage was done.. right now I have 2 not 20 lonely little shrimps that may not make it. needless to say he didn't charge me for them. and is re-ordering the full amount. I had to ask her what part of "do not open the shrimp bags" was confusing. she said she "didn't realize it meant these shrimps", (the only shrimps in the darn order). FACEPALM

I am still swearing up a blue cloud.

Wow that sucks. Employees are the worst....
wow, thats really absurd. i woulda fired her on the spot.
I bet he doesn't open the next order!
Man that sucks!! Atleast they werent CRS or something like that!! LFS peeps crack me up ive met some that are great and others that have seen the movie finding nemo and think they know about fish lol.
Ugh I'm sorry to hear that. Does this employee breath through her mouth? I've been shopping around for some minions to do my bidding. Nothing complicated like reading or anything like that. Mainly just to pace back and forth on my lawn while wearing those special golf shoes with the spikes that help aerate the turf. I find my worms are better suited for other tasks such as vermicomposting.

ReefkprZ: you would probably have good luck getting some mailed. I always have.
Eeps...sry to hear ;(

DO NOT PRESS THE RED BUTTON!!!
The owner should have put his bag of shrimp somewhere else.

Maybe she was re-bagging 20-30 things for special orders. Not her fault.
No everything went in the store tanks except my order of shrimp. She just thought it would be nice to "freshen" the water and didn't realize that "do not open bag" actually does mean "do not open bag". I know its a long complicated and utterly challenging directive to follow.

I spoke with the owner over the phone this afternoon, for obvious reasons he didn't discuss what if any punitive measures he had undertaken, not my business, but he did reassure me that any special order directives in the future will be follwed to a "t" by her. I don't want her to lose her job I made that much clear, its too hard for young inexperienced workers to find work in this economy. I can pretty much gaurantee she learned a valuable lesson about making sure you do things the way you were told instead of doing things the way you think they should be. there is usually a reason for the instructions.

overall I'm just bummed I have to wait for more shrimpies.

Well, now she knows shrimp don't like bag buddies :^)
funny thing is the two that were still alive are 1 male and 1 female....... I haven't checked them since I got home from work so I don't know if they are still alive. I am hesitant to turn on the tank light......

Bag buddies are definitely a no no with shrimps..... I am willing to bet she wont ever do that again. ON the bright side, if these two make it and breed, I know I have the toughest of the lot breeding..... darwin was right.....
I can only find the female this morning. no sign of the male. I cant find the corpse though which is encouraging. but I will keep looking.
Idiot! She should get fired right away.
dude, i feel for you... I give direct orders at work and NOBODY ever listens to me either... then i have to clean up mistakes.

hope you find the male of your "survivor pair"
I found them both this morning!!! Still alive! they are so teeny in that 20 long that there are too many places for them to hide, but they were both out in the open this morning. This is exciting. I hope they can find each other in there to breed. they are on opposite ends of the tank. I can't believe they survived. I'm doing the happy dance.
the female is showing her saddle! I hope this is as good a news as I think it is.
