Hello All,

I was just wondering if 'Red Cherry Shrimp' and 'Cherry Red Shrimp' are the same shrimp? I see a lot of people talking about RCS but at the local pet store they have shrimp there labeled as CRS. Are they the same thing?

The shrimp at the store look really small but currently are clear color almost like ghost shrimp. The employee there tolled me that as they get bigger their color changes red. Is this true? And also, I was just wondering if RCS are the same as CRS just different pronunciations?

Thanks.

yeah they should be the same. CRS are actually crystal red shrimp which looks completely different. CRS are usually white and red while red cherry shrimp are just red

Aw. Ok thanks. Are both good for clearing out algae in tanks?
No, they'll eat algae and all but not enough to make a serious dent. Depending on how serious your algae problem is. If you're looking for an algae shrimp, go for amanos or red nose.
