I purchased some fire red shrimp from a person off of Ebay. When I got them and put them in my tank I found this shrimp, it is a female that is berried, she looks black with red spots on her. Anybody have any idea as to what kind of shrimp she may be. I have talked with the seller and he said there were no other shrimp in the tank that he sells them from.

I would say it is likely just stress from shipping, she might have stressed more than the others due to being berried. And this might be in addition to her possibly having some mutant color. I would suspect she will color up ok. I have seen fire reds get black spots from stress and it took 2-3 weeks for them to go away, but no deaths from it. It is also common for them to lose all red from stress temporarily.
They have been in the tank since Aug 30th. So I do not think it is stress. She was that color when we got them.
Could you more importantly tell us the color of the eggs?

And the body is definitely a neocardinia body..

Eggs are green.
Hmm.. The only Red Cherry shrimp I've had have pure white eggs. I'll do a little peeking around to see what has green eggs.

My cherries and yellows have yellow eggs, my chocolates have brown eggs. Never had RCS with white eggs.

Yea egg color doesn't tell much. Neos can have a HUGE assortment of egg colors. I've had my RCS have green, white, dark green and yellow eggs.

Back on topic, I'm pretty sure it's a wild type neo.
I agree, D.

Gene throwbacks/mixes aren't uncommon.

I think it looks pretty, to be honest.

I like the way she looks also. I am just wondering if I should leave her in with the fire reds or put her in my cull tank. What do you guys think.
If they're fire reds, cull tank it is.

Ask the seller if they were raised outdoors, sometimes pond raised pfr have black coloration, it goes away eventually after its been indoors for a while
