After some tank changes my shrimp have been doing really well, but I have noticed deaths after they molt. I need some advice on how I can prevent this?

I don't have any means to test the GH/KH anymore, but I remember that the KH was very high.

The tank water pH is 8.2, is this too high for the shrimp?
Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate aren't a problem.

I have some cuttlebone but haven't added this to the tank yet, as I've heard conflicting things, I'm not sure if this will help or make things worse?

I also have a nerite snail and don't want any changes to harm him in any way.
