Definitely catch them the day before. You'll save stress for yourself and for them.
Shrimp and back to school
So I am leaving to go back to school at 6 a.m. Friday morning and really don't want to have to try and mess with catching them all in the morning or having to get up at 4 to put a trap in the tank. Could I catch them the night before and put them in a bucket with an air stone so it will be easier to catch them in the morning?

Yeah when shrimp are shipped to you they are in the bag for 2 days or more sometimes. They will be fine.
remember to put some gravel and plants from the tank into the container with the shrimp.
