Sealing Dry Side of Bulkhead

I'm currently installing my two bulkheads in my 20 gallon tank for drainage, and was wondering:

The dry side of the bulkhead is a slip fitting and I'll be using it with a 90 degree barbed fitting.

Both are ABS, so I know I can use ABS cement to put them together, but I was wondering if I could get away with silicone since it's a no pressure application?

This is just because I'm a renter, so I know I'll be moving the tank in relatively short time.

I know I'm currently using a 1.5" bulkhead in my filter table with PVC silicon-ed into it vertically and that has been fine, but it is also more accessible, should something go wrong.

Is it a bad idea to use silicone to join ABS to ABS in a low pressure setting?

It will work with silicone. If you can though it is better to use a screw type than a glued bulkhead. If it develops a leak in the future they are much easier to fix and reseal.

It's slip on both sides, already purchased, since it's half as expensive as threaded.
