Anyone here know anything about Seachem comming out with Black Flourite? I am thinking of grabbing it for my second tank as they are comming out with both granular and sand flourite. Would like to know if it reacts at all (adjust pH etc.) with the water chemistry.

I dont think it is out yet, so I dont think you are going to find any info about it yet
It's been "coming out" for several years now. I for one would not hold my breath waiting for it.
They are advertising it in the Aquarium Magazines so if they are willing to spend the money in a full page ad then it must be due for release soon then
I asked the Seachem rep on APC, he said 4-6 months or sooner.

Oh the Naiveté of youth.

They had full page ads for it several years ago. Along with Flourite Rocks.

Ever hear of Vaporware?

Many times the marketing department has little to no idea of what the R&D department is doing or what the time line is.

Start reading Dilbert.

Well, that's something. Maybe if we all start bugging them, they'll finally get around to releasing it. I can't wait, but I'm not holding my breath...
I suggested this to Greg about 8 years ago.
I suggested the Cluas at Tropica to sell a macro mix in 1998.

Things do happen, but they can be slow.

Still, it's long over due and seems like it'll happen.
I hope the color is good like the pieces in the regular stuff.
Never liked the red flourite.
Onyx is too strange colored.

That is why they did not come out with the Black Flourite likely, the Onyx they assumed fit the color bill.

I do not think so.

I like planting in Flourite a lot. A few smaller plants are not that great, but most are. Onyx had a grain size that was a bit too small IMO.
Flourite a tad too large.

Never happy am I?

I see... well then guess I am not waiting that long
I asked at my LFS about it the other day and he said that he had heard of it from his distributor... He said his distributor said it left a black cloud in the tank and diddn't like it supposedly... But then again I think regular flourite will cloud too. Maybe he was thinking of something else or maybe he diddnt rinse it.. who knows.. But since no one else seems to be finding it I am going to assume he was thinking of something else..
aquariumplants.com will provide the black flourite soon. i saw the (coming soon) sign on there website. :icon_smil ..and it might include free shipping too. check back with them.
figures, I just bought a bunch of the stuff. Have yet to open it yet, hopefully an exchange can take place.
