Hey guys. So I was lucky enough to do a small group order with a few friends and got a 3 Scarlet Badis from msjinkzd (awesome person)! To my surprise unfortunately no one in NYC seems to be breed them. So I took it upon myself that I will try. They're also my first Scarlet Badis.. I did not know these guys were so tiny. Since I don't really have much of a large tank 7.9 gallon ebi and a 1 gal tank. I put my 3 badis in the 1 gallon temp to just see how they do for the time being until I sort out my 8 gallon.. maybe even convince my wife to be able to keep a 20g Long.. (due to limited NYC apt space). So here are a few videos.. any advice or crits are welcome :) they're currently housed with 30+ MTS, 1 Nitrite snail, 2 pond baby snails and 1 ramshorn, with 100+ tubi and a few bloodworms living in the substrate to trigger natural hunting in the wild. I soon pray for a 20g L :D (If anyone is getting rid of their 20gal long in nyc let me know :)

1st day I just took them out of the bag and placed these freaking awesome cute babies in the tub with microworms and tubiflex worms :)

Day 21 settled in and feeding on microworms! They go nuts for them!

A quick video after the lights went out but I woke them up.. they're being shy!

Sweet fish! You might want to throw some Java moss in with them. It will make them feel more secure, they'll spawn in it & the fry will feed on the microorganisms that inhabit it. Good luck with them & first dibs on some of their offspring!

Scarletts are beautiful fish with a ton of personality. I was lucky enough to buy some juvies a while back but did not have the patience to grow them out
cause the fry take a while to mature. Congrats on the awesome fish though!!

Thank you again for the input. I am just praying I can get them to breed. But I have everything ready. Moss to fill a whole 2 gallon and enough microworm culture to feed for 1 year.

I had 3 SB in my 40B, all males. Each had their own area they would watch. Every now and then 2 of em would show off to each other for 30 min or so. To bad I couldn't get 5 or 6 females. Great looking fish! Your SB are young yet, wait til they are mature. Most colorful micro fish out there. I had a RCS population in the 40B with them, so the baby RCS kept them feed.

Thank you guys! I'm finally thinking of a larger tank. At most 20L which will be high tech but extremely heavily planted. So I'm sure they will love it. Along with my pygmy cories and 1 carbon black shrimp

not something deadly, google fish flashing and see what you get. I get this from time to time, means I need to do better at water changing. Sometimes if I see more than one or two fish doing it I add quick cure and it takes car of it. now if you notice that she is only breathing out of one gill then you definitely have gill flukes and those are parasitic so a parasitic medication is needed. Quick cure will not harm your plants but add an air stone just to be sure the fish get plenty of oxygen. or just try a big water change and see if that takes care of it without medication at all

Unfortunately when I got home I saw this ... moved from low tech 1 gallon to 8 gallon high tech. 75*F, co2 tank.. acclimated them for about 30 mins *sigh*

So much for breeding... now need to get another pair.. man it's going to be hard to find a female.

If they are in two small of a tank they can be agressive towards each other..

I have 2-3 (i can only find 2...) with some CPD's escalation mark rasboras and some PFR shrimp and they all seem to get along well.. except for any baby shrimp that become badis snacks
