get you some buckets and run hot water and vinegar through it. back and forth a few times and let it dry

You could even use iodine (used for sanitizing wine equipment) but it can stain silicone.

Bleach/water solution work's well also.(1/4 cup bleach to 5 gal)
Just be sure the hose, tools, nets, are completely dry before using them.
I have never sanitized mine, never even thought about it lol. I live in a dry climate though, and every time I go to use it there isn't a drip of water inside of the tubes so all bacteria has been killed at that point.

I use over the counter 3% H2O2 (available and cheap)
Mixed in a Tupperware bowl it's active for about three day's use @ a 4:1 mix solution. If it's creating bubbles on organic materials soaking in it then it's still active.
My tanks are scattered throughout my home so I use a 45' siphon hose to reach the exterior windows when draining tanks doing water changes. I have 6' tail hose sections I can change between tanks but the main hose gets quite nasty over time never drying out.

2-3qts/1-1/2 gallons of water once a month or so is used on the main hose to clean it. You could use less and I have used the 4:1 but the higher ratio works faster in my experience.

While exactly what is growing within the hose is unknown to me I do know 72hrs of circulation takes the hose from this,

I don't like using bleach.

H2O2 is aquarium safe in the trace amount that might be left in the hose, too. Especially after the hose has been used to empty the tank, first!

That is really impressive.

Anyway, I do not sterilize mine, just hang it to dry, and it is usually dry before the next use.

Ditto. Although I currently only use it on one tank I never considered cleaning it,lol. Next year at some point I will construct a system to interconnect my multi tank setup when I construct it so the python will be retired at that point.
I do three 55gal and a 30gal back to back on water change day. I was really looking for a way to sanitize it between tanks as one of them holds feeders. would hate for ick or some to come in on a feeder and transfer to another tank via python

Not to hijack but how do you guys get rid of the black stuff that's in there? I assume it's mold?
i use mine weekly and drain it well before putting it up and i get very little black mold

I run hot water through for about a minute before I put it away. That keeps the tubing flexible and I lift the end over the sink to flow the water back into the sink. I have done it that way for years now and have no mold at all.
