Runners

Is there plants that can put up sucker plants anywhere in your aquarium?

Is a runner a plant that puts out a massive root system or is it a plant that puts out runners and new plants or suckers grow from these runners?

This is very important to me because I do not want my plants leaving their designated areas. These designated areas have physical barriers such as rocks but rocks don't stop plants from growing under and coming up the other side.

I may have to be careful what species I use.
