I found a way to stop it in its tracks... add some Platys!! The demolished what I had. It was growing, well, like a weed, about an inch+ almost daily. Reached the top and was filling in nicely when they must have gotten a taste for it.
Now it is all gone....
Just keep those omnivores away and you'll be fine.
