I think I know why "my" rotala rotundifolia is growing horizontally. My tank is facing the south and there are two big windows that brings in lots of sun light. Also, the photo period is 8 hours starting from 2pm to 10pm. I do this because I would like to see the tank still lit by the time I get home from work.

So what happens is that until 2PM, rotala rotundifolia has no source of light other than ambient light coming from the windows. This is why it bends and grows horizontally towards the sun light.

My question to other members is when do you guys start your aquarium light?

R rotundifolia is a semi-creeping stem plant. If it's getting optimum care, it will creep some.
