Hi, I have a 20 H tank setup I had exotic goldfish but not a good idea in a small tank and:iamwithst-macro mix fron aqariumferts.com, my lighting is cheap LEDS 48 watts but there cheap! so not much light maybe med-low light. I have stem plants, ludwigia red, L levites, pennywort, L atlantis, one other medium light plant, do I need root tabs like Osmocote plus? thanks:iamwithst

If the Ludwigia stay red you may have more light than you think.
Any/all plants take in nutrients from the water. There is someone who comes on this forum now and then who has a tank/w just sand for the sub, many Crypt plants in it and they seem to look as good as any that have root tabs and he just uses water ferts.
The plants would benefit, but need, no. Not any amount of experience/w them but native DHG that I have seem to look better
when I put individual pieces of the Osmocote under them/w tweezers.
Actually I'm beginning to believe it's a lot like other subjects in this hobby. People who do, swear by it, and people who don't say nah, haven't seen any benefit.
