This is a male xiphidius that I managed to snag a couple photos of a while ago. It's not actually in an aquarium...but the water section of a vivarium. Regardless, it's a great fish and thought it was worth sharing:

Wow! Beautiful fish! I've never seen one like it. Most people don't have Rivulus species. Are they annuals?

He will get more colorful, but the vivarium is on a lower rack and the water temperature is a bit cooler than he would prefer, so he may not gain full brilliance while in there. I received the male from a friend who bred them...the entire batch was composed of males. If I could secure a female, it would be nice to try and breed them.
