rescaping and substrate

Hi my 80 gallon has been up for a little over 1 year and doing well, but I want to redo the wood and stones and some plants. I have a small area of Caribsea sand in the foreground and would like to, very carefully, remove some of this to add some Power Sand and Colorado Sand from AFA. Will this be ok for fish? Any comments or help would be much appreciated.

My background is black eco-complete. Can or should I do anything to 'top' this off a bit?

Siphon the sand out with a hose. Will be least disruptive solution.

itll be ok to add and take out substrate. only thing i would be careful is how much disruption you do. like you cause a cloud of old poo and dirt to throw off your water settings and causing spikes. try not to disturb the soil too much and do a water change to take out any spikes in water perameters.
ok, thank you! Would it also be ok to add some eco complete on top of existing to build up an area? Do you put anything under the hill to support it?
