So it's been a month since I got my Fluval 206 and the only non-fluval media I threw into the canister was Purigen.

Looking to replace that Carbon media since I don't think it would be wise to have it with excel dose.

What's the best replacement for this media? I have a 2nd purigen bag sitting around somewhere; maybe I could have two purigen bags in my canister.

Was thinking of replacing it with Seachem Matrix, any issues with this?

Replacing the activated charcoal with more Purigen or even biomedia (such as Matrix) would be fine.

I would replace it with matrix and save the other bag of purigen for when the current bag needs replaced. Also just an FYI I have heard matrix is just pumice stone, which you can get cheaper from a lawn and garden or hydroponics store.

It depends what type of media you need more, whether it's Purigen's features or if you would like more biological filtration, then go with Matrix.

No real issues with either.
