Those stupid U shaped bearings that the biowheel sits on for the Emperor 400 and 280 filters consistently wear out for me. The plastic gets rubbed off from all the wheel spinning and the biowheel isn't able to work anymore. I've looked for these things online and they are ridiculously expensive for some cheap plastic parts. Does anybody know any DIY methods I can use as a replacement for these things?

Looks like they can be had for as little as $2.50 for the pair plus shipping. I company can't really handle a part even if it was free to them for less than that.

In planted tanks, where you already have a large bacteria base, you may not even need the bio-wheels. If one stops, remove it and see in there is any difference in the tank.
