Repairing an Eheim

I have an Eheim 2206 (pro) that recently confused itself with La Fontana di Trevi and began shooting water out of its side when I turned it on. Very artful, but bad for the rug.

I can't see any obvious wear on the gaskets and all the parts that I can see/interact with look to be in good shape. I'd hate to replace it since it does a great job and, if it's a simple fix, it will probably cost me less to deal with a single part than a whole new filter. I'm totally stumped, though! Where do I turn for filter repairs?

(Lest you worry, my workhorse Eheim pro 3 2075, with the help of a whisper 60, is taking over in the meantime).

Check the canister body itself. My 2213 came with a small crack in the canister body, so I had to get a new one. They aren't too bad though in terms of price, and can be had for around $10.
Take the gasket out and apply a thin layer of vaseline. That worked for me on my 2128 pro II.

I could give that a try. Are the directions on http://www.atomicrice.com/atomic-o-ring-installation.pdf comparable to what you used to open up the top?
Don't use Vaseline. It is no good for the seals and will degrade them over time. EHEIM Lube is silicone based. I couldn't find it so I bought some stuff made for tap o-rings.

There's a quote of an email from EHEIM saying their o-rings are not silicone based and that they use silicone lube
You can use regular Vaseline for lube with Eheim o-rings and gaskets as per their FAQ section on the website.

Paragon, is your filter a 2026 Pro? If so, the gasket that may need lube is the square seal that is on the pump head that seals to the top of the canister. The directions on the atomicrice website are for replacing the priming button o-ring.

How old is the filter?

I've always used the vasaline petroleum jelly on my seal o-rings for my canisters. Not yet have I had a problem with an o-ring turning or leaking...

I so just LOL'd

Otherwise, I have nothing productive to contribute. :hihi:
