Hi,

Just wondering if it is okay to remove the rim surrounding the top side of the tank so it would look like a rimless tank? Are the plastic to reinforce the structure of the tank or is it just there so you cna put lights, filters on and dont matter if I remove it?

Thanks

A rimless tank has thicker glass because It doesn't have the reinforcement of the rim. So removing of the rim on a regular tank sounds like the formula for epic failure.

Everything under 40 gallon tanks should be fine. (or without a middle brace)
I removed a rim from a 75 and is in test phase for already 8 months without breaking.

I did this on my 35G way back in the day, It was fine for a year, but just make sure you inspect your seals cause they will be the thing holding your tank together. Also, be very careful when removing the rim, I cracked my 10g that I used to do this.
