I have never taken plants that were still living out of this (my first) planted tank. I have 2 mature A. Crispus that I feel don't look right with everything else in there now. They were one of the very first things in the tank after setup a year ago. I would like to be able to take them out safely enough to be able to gift them to someone (RAOK?). Any suggestions?

What substrate are you using?

Just be sure to perform 50% water change after uprooting the plant's so that organic matter suddenly released from the substrate, does not fuel an algae bloom by creating temporary rise in ammonia.
Also stressful for fishes.

It is a sand-capped soil substrate. Also, thanks for reminding me about the water change. I hadn't thought about that.

This may sound silly, but apono crispus is my very favorite aquarium plant. I'd love to have a few more. Would you send them to me??
