Hi All,
I am trying to keep this as general and vague as possible. In July I sent funds via paypal for some CO2 equipment. To date, I have not received any merchandise or correspondence regarding this matter. I have repeatedly tried to contact him, but to no avail. After about a month, I hear that he is having problems. Now I understand that. Life sometimes gets in the way, and you have to prioritize. However, it has been over 45 days, and Paypal cannot do anything as far as refunding my money or disputing the transaction. The bank cannot do anything either. Any suggestions how I can get my money back? I do sympathize that people have other things going on in their lives besides the hobby, but it's nothing personal, this is business. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated thanks.

If you haven't received the merchandise you can complain to Paypal and they will force the seller to resolve the issue or have their account frozen.

Not when its been longer then 30 days.
Paypal is basically going to say you are SOL.

To the OP, you should have filed for a claim 10 days after you sent the money and hadnt received anything.

To this day i am still unsure of why people can just give away money and not be concerned immediately when the item or items were not received when they should have been received.

ouch, you'll have to ask the guy for your money back.
You can probably take it to small claims court if the guy doesn't give your money back.

I'm sure he doesn't want to go to court and get away from his normal life.

Don't be too nice, some people will take advantage of that in a bad way.

Next time give people 15-20 days, yes there is issues and all that stuff life throws at us. But the right thing to do is a quick refund of the money and you can go back to dealing with your issues... if there was a real issue to begin with...

that sucks dude. like the others have said, it sounds like he has taken advantage of your kindness.

post up his info and let any potential future buyers know about his antics.

good luck man.

Well you know I've really been trying to give this guy plenty of time to get back to me. I'm sympathetic to him and his problems. I'm also not one to kick a person when he's down. That's why I choose to speak in general terms. It just brings bad karma.

Not to hijack, but before I left portland, I was in a serious time crunch and made a deal with the local reef store. They would take about $3,000 in live corals and fish for a grand total of $500. The guy asked if he could pay me later (which he had done before) so I said fine. Well he was supposed to pay me in march. I started calling in May, he wouldn't return my calls. I called one of his employees and told him I'd hate to post something on the forums.

I finally got a call back in July. The store owner said he was going through a divorce and might file for bankruptcy, but would make good because I was his best customer. He said he'd pay me in installments. I have yet to see any money. I lost my butt off on selling him the stuff, and then it turned into a total loss.

I'm guessing the only recourse you'd have would be small claims court, but it might not be worth your time. I feel your pain man.

a man is only as good as his word. he told you he would sell you something, and took your money. that is bad karma. taking proper recourse is not.

i've been through rough times myself. it doesnt consume every second of your day. there is no way that he doesnt have the time to put it in a box and mail it. that takes 5 minutes and a trip to the post office on the way to work. and if he's out of work he has plenty of time on his hands.

he took advantage of you. you have the right to get what he owes you
