Hi Friends,

i have a planted tank already but i want to redo it now for the following reasons;

  • My plants are growing haywire, anticipated aquascaping has been gone for a toss now.
  • Population explosion of trumpet snails.
  • Adding a new plant species.
since i am redoing the entire tank i wanna recheck on the current specification/s;

  1. Tank Width 60 inches, Depth 30 inches and height 42 inches.
  2. lighting 60w of LED lights (10-12hrs a day).
  3. canister filter + overhead filter.
  4. CO2 supply using DIY (sugar+yeast) method + CO2 tablets as per instruction label on the packing.
  5. JBL Manado substrate (2inch in front vs 4inch thickness at the rear wall).
  6. DIY overflow system.
  7. new water inlet connection with 7-8 drops of water per minute 24hrs a day.
  8. plants;

  • LUDWIGIA ARCUATA
  • Dwarf Hair grass long
  • Vallisneria americana (natans)
  • Bacopa monnieri
Failed plants;

  • HC Cuba.
  • Stingy Moss
  • Java Moss
with the above experience i intend to redo the entire planted tank project.

following plants are ordered for the revamp;

  • Hygrophila Corymbosa (Broad Leaf)
  • AMMANNIA GRACILIS
  • Anubias Nana Congensis
  • Cardamine (Cardamine lyrata)
  • Echinodorus bleheri (Amazon sword plant)
  • ECHINODORUS CORDIFOLIUS. MARBLE QUEEN- YELLOW
  • ECHINODORUS PARVIFLORUS
  • Echinodorus tenellus
  • GLOSSOSTIGMA ELATINOIDES (Small Bunch)
  • HYDROCOTYLE TRIPARTITA "HONDA"
  • HYGROPHILA 'ANGUSTIFOLIA'
  • HYGROPHILA CORYMBOSA COMPATA
  • Hygrophila difformis
  • Hygrophila Polysperma -Green
  • LUDWIGIA OVALIS
  • Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo'
  • Roseafolia( Alternanthera reineckii pink)
  • STAUROGYNE SP. 'PORTO VELHO'
Need your expert suggestions on the current specification, do i need to change anything ?

p.s. the reason i have ordered few types of foreground plants is because of the previous failure of HC Cuba.

Welcome aboard Fundoo! Can you provide a pic? Also not sure about the "watts" on your light can you provide more detailed info?

Generally speaking, Glosso, HC Cuba & any red plant will need high light (PAR) and Co2. Are you dosing any fertilizers?

DIY Co2 isn't usually recommended on tanks over 10 gallons. Do you have a drop-checker or any way to measure your Co2. Co2 tablets are probably useless as well.

Good luck and keep posting:)

thanks for your response as requested i have uploaded both the pics.
i have 3 tube lights of 20watts each.

i do dose liquid fertilizer (Flourish) pic attached too.

i don't have any kit to measure CO2 levels but i do check pH levels after every partial water change once a week.
