hey I have a turtle tank with one black skirt in it with 2 musk turtle 29 gallon small canister... I'm thinking of throwing 29 gallon old tank out and getting a new one with a nice stand and new canister filter... what kind of worm do you think it is? it's about 1 inch or more long and skinny... uhmmm...

should I grab it with pinchers and flush it?

it's gross and on glass wall

Can´t believe the turtles haven´t eaten it, but I would definitely dissinfect that tank because it could be a parasite and your pets (and you) are at risk

What foods have you put in the tank?

Sometimes eggs can hatch in a tank... but if you haven't fed any live food recently and keep up with tank cleaning like you have to with turtles, my guess is you need to worm your turtles.

you wouldn't find any parasitic worms anywhere except inside the animal. Their larval stage might hitch a ride or live inside other animals like crustaceans but not the fully developed worm.

it's most likely gross but harmless.

But it doesn't hurt to deworm your pet either.

Intestinal worms get passed with feces all the time. Many parasitic species pass eggs onto other animals that way. Living on a farm as a kid, I've caught many worm infestations that way, seen the worms in the feces.
