Red leaves? I have some stem plants and when they get too close to the surface their leaves turn bright red. I know it's because they get more light but I am worried that it isn't healthy. So I trimmed the plants and am only running about 1.5-2 watts per gallon right now. I will take a pic of it and post it after I do a water change because I am battling an algae bloom right now.

It's healthy. It's desirable IMO.

This is the plant turning red.

This is the other main plant I have that does just fine until it actually emerges from the surface of the water.

I like the plants turning red. It might not look so great, though, when only the tops are red (I have plants that end up like that).

Red is a good thing IMO. I'll let them. It adds color and beauty to the tank.
