Hi All

I have 2 successful tanks, one for red cherry shrimp and another for blue

However, occasionally in the blue shrimp tank I see a little red shrimp.

I understand that this can happen with blue shrimp as they originally were bred from red. My question is if I can put this red shrimp in my red shrimp tank or will that increase odds of off color shrimp in the red tank in the future.

What do people generally do in this case? Can i put them with my red shrimp? Cull them?

Thanks,

They're Neos, so all it takes is one cross-breeding incident for everything you've worked for to get diluted. So if color is important to you? Culling is necessary. I wouldn't put them in with the reds. But you obviously can if you want to.

Maybe start a bucket/tote/bowl/vase/spare tank where the culls go to live.

Mine usually go to live in my plant grow-out tanks - where plant trimmings also go to live - and random vases around the house. Main vase is from IKEA and sits on my bathroom counter. Very little effort to maintain - drain some water into the sink once a week, refill.
