So, currently my 75 is running 2 6,500K bulbs for 8 hours, and a 5,000K and a Pink Grow Bulb from Catalina for 4 hours.

I need to replace the 2 6,500K soon and am debating if I just get 2 6,500K's, or get a 6,500K and something else (3,000K? another 5,000K?).

My tank is high tech, and has a fairly nice amount of colorful plants with reds and yellows and things, and fish with blues and irridecens in them.

Just wondering what you all have tried and liked.

I am running 2 6500k bulbs, one Giesemann Aqua Flora and one UVL Red Sun. My fish and plant's colors really POP. I also have a 3000k but found it too yellow if I used in place of one of the 6500k. By the way, the 6500k bulbs that I have are by odyssea...they seem bright, but I don't know how they compare to other brands. The UVL red sun is an awesome bulb. It's super red so you would have to have other colors in the mix for sure. Who makes your 6500k bulbs?

Catalina aquariums is where I've been getting my T5HO's from but I might want to try a different source if someone could recommend me via comment or PM.
Maybe go with a 6500k and a 10000k bulb. The 10k bulbs really bring out the blues and iridescence in the fish as well as some good plant growth too.

Eh, I did that once and wasn't really a fan of it. I think I'll just stick with 6500K for now. Where do you guys get your bulbs?
I picked mine up from reefgeek....can I post urls?
It sound like you have a 4 bulb fixture. With red plants, I like a pink bulb, two 6500/6700k bulbs and one 10k bulb. It's a bit on the yellow/red side but makes red plants look good. Right now, I am using two bulbs and I use a 6500k and a pink bulb and though it has taken some time to get used to, I like that combo as well. On green only, I like the opposite, 6500/10,000k which is very white.

I basically look at it like this, the more white (and even a touch of blue), the better the fish look and unless it is too blue, it won't wash out greens. However, that may wash out reds. With a more yellow/red hue, the fish don't show as much iridescence color but the red plants look better.
