Just curious on this one...


After receiving new plants in the mail, does anyone leave thier lights on through the night for them? After all, they have been in the dark for two plus days. Was wondering if it would actually be better for them since the conditions that they just went through.

A couple of days without light won't hurt the plants. Temperature extremes while in transit are what causes real damage.

I've noticed better results if you do keep the light on for the newly arrived plants. It might be personal preference playing in again...

I keep the lighting schedule the same.

And sometimes in nature it rains & is cloudy for a day or two, and pretty much the plants live another day.

I don't alter the lights for new plants. My thinking is that plants are accustomed to having a fairly steady day/night cycle, but they are able to tolerate variations in that cycle if need be. However, since the plants will already endured a long period of 'night', why stress them further with an abnormally long period of 'day'?

This is the same mentality we use when we are trying to get my toddler son through the jetlag of going back and forth to Thailand a lot
