Re-cycling?

So this is weird....my water has all of a sudden become a white soupy mess. I can understand it because my ammonia readings are zero and my nitrite and nitrate readings are barely registering. I added 10 otos of which 6 are still alive and its been a week with no change. When is this going to go away? I've changed the water by 50% 3 times this week. I'm starting to get very frustrated and I just added some red cherry shrimp to help with my algae situation and I don't want to loose them either...any ideas? Should I add some Purigen to help this situation or what?

You've been a member here since july 03 and this is your first bacterial bloom ???!!!

If it's a new tank, you've probably got a bacterial bloom. Leave it be for another week, just do a 50 % wc in 7 days, and things should take care of themselves.

If your water has taken on a greenish tint, or it doesn't clear up in another week, you've probably got a GW outbreak. Then you'll have to do a blackout or use a UV sterilizer.

Give us some specs on your tank and we can better diagnose your problem.

LOL! No I've had this problem before but I'm having difficulty determining what the problem exactly IS...

My water appears to the naked eye as very clear, but in the tank it's a translucent mess...originally I thought it might be just a bacterial bloom. That was until I tested today and it indicated:

0 Ammonia
0 Nitrites
0 Nitrates

So I guess I do have a GW problem after all...I've used some Seachem Clarity today and it had an immediate affect, which according to the directions, will only improve after a few hours...we'll see what happens!
