I have RCS in a 3 gallon at work.

I had 1 shrimp with eggs before but she dropped them. I think she is about to have more and I have a few questions

1 How long will she carry the eggs before they hatch?

2 should I turn off my filter when they do hatch? I have a screen so that they don't get sucked into the filter but I'm sure the babies are going to be beyond tiny so I don't want to push my luck.

3 what do the babies eat? I have a wall of algae growing off the back of the tank for the adults, will the babies eat this too?

4 How many do they normally have in one batch? I would like to keep as many as possible and transfer some to my home tank.

Ok that's enough questions for today.

Thanks in advance

1. For about 4 weeks.
2. No. If you have a screen/sponge piece/nylon stocking or something like that on the intake that should be fine. Keep the filter running! They are gonna be small for a while and you can't keep the filter off the whole time!
3. Very small food, microoorganisms, algae, detrius (on the filter sponge),... They should find enough. If they keep disappearing though, some powdered food might help.
4. 20-40
