Razor blade for GSA

790 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  sewingalot
So my sister said there is a major issue with GSA in my goldfish tank back at home *cough*, and so she found an old razor blade in the basement. She said it so sharp that is hard to use cuz it cuts into her nail.

Well anyways, do you use the razor blade when the tank is empty or full of water? She told me she tried to do it while everything was still in, I told her to do it empty because I thought it would be slippery when wet.

I don't empty my tanks when I scrape. Much too lazy for that.

If you want to use a razor, use a scraper with a razor attachment: http://www.petdiscounters.com/c161/Deluxe-Aquarium-Scraper-with-Razor-p4634.html

Otherwise, I just use an old credit card. :)
Wow, the credit card thing does work, just one in my tank here on som GSA and it went off. Gotta tell my sis that, hopefully it will work on the goldfish one. I think its been there for quite some time since the summer so it might be even harder.
You can scratch the tank if you're not careful with the razor too. The CC things is easy to use.

I use filter floss to scrub the algae off too. I can go to places where the cc can't like on the silicon seal.
Completely off topic, but cute nails!

Yea, i don't want scratches! It's already annoying how I bought a tank from PEtsmart and there was a scratch that I didn't see initially :(

Thanks!! Those are my sister's nails and she is crazy about nails. She wants some Konad and she has these nail polish that change color according to the temperature, and glow in the dark nail polish. Yea. She loves designing nails stuff. Haha, I told her she could be a professional nail person, and she said she didn't want to inhale the smells everyday... so this is only gonna be a hobby!

She has a nail collection too!! Here are just a few of her nails.

Very pretty. I want nails like that. By the way, I'd skip the razor blade unless you are super careful. I once scratched a huge line in the middle of my 20 gallon. :(
