Hello,

I have a 5 gallon with 3 female ghost shrimp and 1 male ghost shrimp. The biggest female, One-eye, recently carried eggs which hatched yesterday. The thing is, near the end of their term she started saddling up again. She now has a new set of eggs on her pleopods.

I have never seen this before and one of the smaller females who also had eggs did not go through this.

The question is, does this happen often?

If conditions are good then many shrimp can berry up again soon after the last batch of eggs hatch. The following day is a little unusual, but not unheard of.

That is a relief. I was afraid that it would cause her stress, having eggs to deal with so soon.

Does one eye have one eye? If so, that would help explain it as well.

Yes, she lost it to an adult female as a juvenile. But I fail to see how having lost an eye accounts for having eggs so soon.
