Hello everyone,

i've got a group of blue rams. a few i've had for a while, and i just recently added 3 new ones. They are all eating, have paired off (2 pairs) and are fighting and swimming around. all seems good.

The concern i have is that the three new ones seem to be beathing at a much higher pace than the established ones. They do not exhibit any signs of disease and are active but i'm a little worried.

ANy help is appreciated. Thanks

This could be the first sign of Ich. In many fish, it affects the gills long before white spots appear, and rapid breathing is the only sign. Turn the temperature up to 85, add an airstone to increase oxygen, and try not to stress the fish at all. If they show signs of exhaustion -- resting on bottom of tank, turning pale -- their outlook may be pretty grim.

ok, start with your water parameters
you don't want to stress the new fish even more
do a 40 -50% water change
rearange some decor in the tank
then see what happens
if you intoduced ick into the tank you will see it
