I recently won an xr15w pro and have it set up on a new red sea reefer 170 planted tank. I was wondering if the stock light presets would work. On the internet when you hook it up and can customize it they have the option of changing the colors. It is set up now with the out of box color, which has a blueish/purple hue. Are there any custom settings that would better fit a planted aquarium?

Yes....and there may be a planted tank preset:
I'm just going with the 'planted tank' settings. The cool thing about the default is they pump in a big amount of red and sunrise and sunset. It has a really cool effect of looking like the real deal.
First thing though is I'd attempt to see if you could swap it for the FW version..if that is what you want it for..

If not the thing is fully programmable channel by channel.
MAX PAR: 825
• Cool White: 4 Cree XP-G2 (20W)
Deep Blue: 4 Osram Oslon Square (20W)
Blue: 4 Cree XP-E (12W)
Green: 2 Cree XP-E Green (7W)
Hyper Red: 2 Osram Oslon SSL (6W)
Yellow: 1 Osram Oslon SSL (3W)
Indigo: 2 SemiLEDs (5W)
UV: 2 SemiLEDs (5W)
Generally speaking you'd just cut the blue/deep blue/Indigo/uv down to a better look
